A quick update on todays events! Although a generally poor day for ringing - we only caught seven birds due to the strong winds. Despite this we, or more accurately KAY, reached a milestone and achieved a record for the Observatory since ringing started here in 1978. Not bad for someone who has been here for just 57 days.
So, what is this momentous event?? Today Kay ringed her 26th Great Spotted Woodpecker since arriving here. This puts her a clear one ahead of the previous record held by two long-term ringers here; Pelle (who has ringed 16,000+ birds here) and Mattias (who has ringed the most out here at 22,000+). Good effort Gal and not too much blood on the fingers.
