Another week of lovely weather here on Landsort Bird Observatory, though the 31st was marked by a particularly heavy 'shower'. During the week we have managed a couple of swims in the Baltic, very nice and refreshing after a hard mornings ringing.
The foxes have been present through most of the week, allowing some very close views, with one promoting prolonged girlie screams from one of the Spanish lads after it ran over his foot. The two Catalan guys have left now, in fact, for the first time since we arrived, it is just Kay and Chris at the Observatory.
Actually made it to the pub last night, just for a quick one. The pub/shop is now only open for the weekends and will be closed completely by the start of October.
Ringing has been good - see attached list, with three Red-breasted Flycatchers the highlights. Apart from ringing, we have been treated to a big movement of Sparrowhawk in the last two days, over 190 yesterday and over 200 today. Two White-tailed Eagles present through the morning, in fact they can be seen every day, plus a large female Goshawk. Mink seen this morning.
