Though the winds continued to be strong from the NE - the pattern since 2nd October - it was possible to open a restricted number of nets (11) at 0700. These were progressively closed as the morning progressed so that by the time netting finished at 1400 there were just 7 nets in operation.
Despite this it was possible to catch 142 new birds of 18 species, a welcome change to be catching again after two days with nets closed.
This takes the year total to over 8,400 but even more noteworthy, it takes Kay to over 13,000 birds ringed on Landsort in our three stays here. Since ringing started on Landsort in 1978 only five other people have ringed more birds: Mattias, Bosse, Pelle, Henrik and Thomas. I think congratulations are due to her, perhaps in the form of a Gin & Tonic!!!
