Landsort diary 22nd October 2016

Very strong winds and a forecast for rain from 0700 meant no ringing today, the 8th day missed since 5th April. A walk up to the Battery and back through the woods resulted in many observations of the 'usual' passerines, including c30 Bullfinch, with a Long-eared Owl near Jutvik being the highlight.

A wet day was put to good use by Liam, Kay & Chris, washing bird bags, improving the interior walls of the lab and clearing the lab of old junk.

Just as the day was closing a 'phone call from Johan, who had been out birding all day, told of a Siberian Accentor in the village. Obs emptied quicker than one of Pelle's beer cans and great views, in fading light, down to 2m were obtained!!! An upbeat end to a wet and windy one!!

Will be 5 at the Obs overnight: Chris, Kay, Liam, Mats and Lasse.
