After the promise on SMHI of decreased winds overnight we woke with high hopes of a good mornings ringing - but not to be. The wind was still strong at first light and was more from the E than the last few days. Only 12 nets could be opened at 0645 but during the morning the wind did (eventually) decrease, so 20 nets were in operation by the time they were all closed at 1345.

A total of 143 new birds of 14 species were caught, considering the weather not a bad total but that will teach us to trust forecasts!!! We should know better by now!
Yesterday we gave a talk to the Infectious Diseases Section of the Department of Medical Sciences of Uppsala University; about the work of the Observatory and the importance of continuing migration studies. A very enjoyable evening with good discussion about the potential for future collaboration, which continued over a very pleasant meal. Grateful thanks to Bjorn and his team for their hospitality.
Ari and Bo left the Obs this afternoon, with Mårten and Anna arriving to give five overnight: Chris, Kay, Stefan, Mårten and Anna.
