Landsort diary 2nd October 2016

All standard nets and 3 non-standards opened at 0530, with four further non-standards opened at 1030 after it had become a bit quieter for birds. All nets closed at 1400

 

A great total of 312 new birds of 20 species. Great day with the added bonus of a Little Bunting (Dvärgsparv) from the nets by the Obs, 'plucked' by Tore!!! Only the 3rd specimen caught at the Obs, the others beign in 2003 and 2013 and the first autumn bird.

 

First Long-tailed Tits of the year caught, a small group of 5; probably the first of many!!!

 

Jön left the island on the 1330 ferry, having seen the Little Bunting, so a happy and rewarding weekend for him.

 

Will be just the two at the Obs tonight; Chris & Kay.
