Birds ringed
A busy morning, much more like it should be for mid-October with 390 new birds of 18 species, the catch dominated by Siskin with 204 caught, a new day record (previous best of 111). Best birds of the morning were two europaeus Long-tailed Tit, possibly the first records for the island. Very notable for here, but a reminder of home for Kay & I where it is common.
Mårten Norman and Janne arrived on the morning ferry and together with Mårten and Anna who arrived last night they helped pick birds from the nets during the busiest few rounds. A great days ringing and thanks to everyone for helping - it made the difference by not having to close a few nets or reduce the data gathered for each bird!
Stefan left the island today to give 6 overnight: Chris, Kay, Mårten, Mårten, Anna and Janne.
