Landsort diary 27th August 2016

Opening of nets delayed until 0545 to check on wind strength. Only 8 nets could be opened due to wind and the last of these were closed at 1145.

Only 6 birds of 4 species.

Final 'drop-in' guided walk of the season attracted 6 people, to give over 320 for the season and a couple more pre-booked talks still to give.

Net rides to be strimmed this afternoon - hopefully the last time for the season!!! Change of plan with strimming .Due to the wet weather forecast tomorrow I've spent the afternoon putting some 'anti-slip' on the reed-bad and far north board-walks. Hope they work, but I got a decent bird for my efforts - flushed a Nightjar from the first line of nets in the reeds. First of the year for me!!
