Landsort diary 20th June 2016

All 30 nets opened at 0400 in almost calm conditions though the wind had increased by the end of the netting session at 1100. A total of 19 new birds of 11 species was very pleasing for this time of year.

Though many of the birds caught were young from this year it was pleasing to catch 3 Marsh Warbler, clearly still migrating through the island.

First Marsh Tit, Tree Sparrow and Blackbird young of the year caught today.

Liam arrives on the evening boat so it will be 3 at the Obs tonight.
