Landsort diary 5th June 2016

All nets open at 0400 and closed at 1130. 18 new birds of 13 species, including the first four fledged Great Tits of the year.

Best bird was a second year female Serin, to go with the male caught yesterday. The male was still in the area when the female was caught and was calling close by while she was in the net. Female released back at the point of capture and was seen to rejoin the male.

A pleasant afternoon checking the nest boxes in the far north of the island and at Saltmar. Only two broods of Great Tit ringed, but both of 8 birds, all healthy and ready to fly the nest. This gave 34 new birds for the day.

Female Goosander found on nest in the far north.

Mats and Lasse, remain overnight and a new Member, Ida and her son are due on the last boat for an overnight stay. This will give 6 overnight.
