Landsort diary 2nd June 2016

All nets opened at 0400 and closed at 1100 with just 9 birds ringed of 6 species. Between net rounds time was well spent removing old paint from the bathroom window, ready for painting.

After a quick lunch a further 5 hours spent in the woods north of Jutvik produced 63 more pullus ringed - 54 Great Tit and 9 Blue Tit, the latter all from one brood.

Also flushed a Woodcock from a nest site and a probable Redstart nest in one of the boxes - pale blue eggs.

A tiring day, but good.

Janne arrived on the late morning boat and in the afternoon, three more arrived for the night: Marten, Henrik and Johan. Jointly, they are preparing to publish a book on the Stockholm Archipelago and are out to get photos of our work on the Observatory. So that will be 6 overnight

  1. Thanks for a nice day at Landsort. Very interesting to join your rounds and watching you ringing the birds. Good luck in the future with both birds rebuilding, best regards Johan
