A 4th Cuckoo of the year was a surprise, passing the previous best years of 3, and with a total of 413 Lesser Whitethroat now caught for the year.
Best bird of the day however was not a caught bird but a Hawk Owl, flushed from trees near the pond during a net round, it then perched in the top dead branches of a nearby tree giving Chris great views from less than 100m. It stayed there for about 5 minutes, enough time for Kay and Tore to see it as it took flight heading north. First one on the island for many years
Other highlights included watching a Hobby catching Dragonflies above Obs in late afternoon sunlight.
All in all a great day to be here!!!
Just Chris & Kay on the Obs tonight, who right at the moment are having a celebratory Gin & Tonic!!!
