Landsort diary 14th July 2016

Restricted net opening today due to strong winds. 17 opened at 0400 and closed at 1100. A total of 14 new birds of 9 species including the first Common Rosefinch for a while and another Wryneck to make 19 for the year now for that species.

Today was only noteworthy for the fact that it was the 100th day ringing for Kay & Chris since they started on the  5th April. That is ringing every day except one day missed due to heavy rain all day (19th June). When added to the 47 birds already ringed by the time they arrived a total of 2900 has been passed for the year.

Migration watching was not rewarding for Niklas and Bjorn but they will be trying again later in the day with a hope for better results.

The first Sand Martin of the autumn was seen passing over the pond late in the morning.

Will be four at the Obs tonight.
