Landsort diary for 8th & 9th July 2016

All nets opened at 0400 in virtually calm conditions. Closed at 1200 after a guided talk for three people.

A total of 22 new birds of 13 species, including 'autumns' first Meadow Pipit and an excellent catch of four Wryneck, taking the year total for the species to 17, exceeding by one the previous best year of 16 in 2005.

Yesterday it was not possible to do a diary due to some log-in problems with the system, but we caught 21 new birds of 7 species on 8th July, taking the year total to over 2800 birds.

Just Chris & Kay at the Obs last night and, so far, it looks the same story for tonight
