Landsort diary 19th July 2016

All nets opened at 0400 in almost calm conditions and closed at 1100 with 22 new birds of 11 species, including the first fledged Thrush Nightingale of the season.

A couple of Green Sandpiper on the pond island at first light with a Wood Sandpiper present there later in the morning. Another Cuckoo seen at the Obs around midday.

Niklas, Per and Johan walked up to the north this morning and had a decent time, including seeing a Green Woodpecker at Juvik, possibly the same one as seen by Tore first thing in the morning to the east of the tower. A total of 89 species for them this morning. At present they are in the south doing a migration watch - perhaps they will top the 100 for the day?

The same five overnight tonight as were here last night.
