Landsort diary 1-5-2016

All nets opened at 0430 and closed at 1300 after a good mornings ringing which produced 87 new birds of 16 species, including 6 Redstart, 6 Lesser Whitethroat and a further Wryneck.

It is understood that migration watching was quiet. Bosse, Fredrik, Niklas and Mikael all left the island on the 1330 ferry, leaving just Chris and Kay overnight.

The afternoon was spent making planting beds for Kay to grow herbs and salad leaves.

Plenty of snakes now to be seen basking and 3 water snakes (Grass snakes seen hunting in the reed beds. Splendid weather to be on Landsort!!
