Landsort diary 14th May 2016

Not able to open all nets at 0400 due to wind speed and direction but all remaining nets were opened by mid-morning as the wind dropped to almost calm conditions. All nets closed at 1200 with 48 new birds of 14 species, including the seasons first Garden Warbler, two more Pied Flycatcher and another Wryneck.

At 1100 Monica led a successful guiding with over 30 people from Natursuydojforeningen attending. They were treated to seeing the Wryneck in the hand, great experience for birders and non-birders alike. Great to see so many people listening and learning.

In the afternoon Kay finished off painting the lower part of the walls black, with enough paint left over to paint the sides of both sets of steps.

Meanwhile Chris, Rasmus and Mikaela headed off to the Bredmar reed-beds to replace the rotten planks with new ones. A great job to get off 'the list' as the old planks were a bit of a challenge when wet or icy!!!

Four at the Obs overnight: Chris, Kay, Rasmus and Mikaela. All hoping for a good bird day tomorrow!!!
