Landsort diary 13th May 2016

All nets open at 0400 and closed at 1200. Colder start to the morning than recently with hint of frost in lower areas and a mist rising off the reed beds and pond. This soon cleared. 31 new birds of 11 species, including 2 more Bluethroat, taking the year total to 10 and a further Thrush Nightingale.

Willow Warbler are not being caught in large numbers yet and there are very few Blackcap about.

This afternoon Chris sanded the south and east walls of the Obs ready for painting and Kay finished painting the west wall and the south wall. Only the east wall to paint, perhaps tomorrow?

With no other helpers it has been a bit of a hard effort but well worth it as the place looks good.

Rasmus and his partner Mikaela arrive tonight, giving four at the Obs overnight
