Landsort diary 11th May 2016

Only 16 nets opened at 0400 due to a strong NE wind which dropped during the morning. By 0700 a further 4 nets were open and these 20 stayed open until 1200. A total of 27 new birds of 8 species, including the first Whinchat of the year and a further two Thrush Nightingale.

Two guided talks took place, one at 1000 for a Company out on the island for a conference and the public guiding at 1100 when two people attended. Both were successful.

Afternoon was spent in a fruitless search for a Beaver which had been reported as being seen yesterday by Marie. Signs showed it had been there recently but no joy for us!

Marie left the Obs in the morning, leaving just Kay & Chris overnight tonight.
